ICA Classics is proud to present the recording of Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty by Vladimir Jurowski. It was recorded live in December 2013 with the 'Svetlanov' orchestra. Jurowski has already built a significant catalog of recordings that have been critically acclaimed. Jurowski's interpretation is based on his view that Acts 1 and 2 inhabit a romantic sound world, and then between Acts 2 and 3, the sound changes completely and becomes drier with much sharper contours. He stated that if Tchaikovsky had not died prematurely, he would have developed a compositional style similar to Stravinsky's between 1917 and 1928, during the time of Pulcinella. The Sleeping Beauty recorded here is presented in its entirety.
