Among these is an incredible performance of the 50th anniversary of Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring,' in the presence of the composer, given half a century after Monteux's world premiere in Paris! This recording reveals an extraordinary moment of historical continuity: between 1913 and 1963, five decades have passed in the evolution of 20th-century music, in the taste and understanding of the public, and in the lives of pioneering creators and performers. The concert was broadcast live on the BBC from the Royal Albert Hall and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
