Ondas Martin Codax Cantigas de amigo

Description

Galicia, second half of the 13th century. For her second recording released by Arcana, VivaBiancaLuna Biffi offers us a remarkable program centered on the seven Cantigas de Amigo by Martín Codax, one of the earliest cases in monodic music where the speaker is a woman. In this true song cycle, the protagonist speaks to the waves of the sea, both obstacle and messenger, to ask them for her lover. Singing to the viola, VivaBiancaLuna Biffi gives voice to human feelings, while in the interludes, Pierre Hamon, with his incomparable medieval flutes, transforms the waves into sounds, emotions, and words beyond words.
