This album offers an intimate and original reinterpretation, proposed by two faithful accomplices, clarinetist Pierre Génisson and pianist Bruno Fontaine, along with their guests, singers and musicians (Monica Bellucci, Youn Sun Nah, Lambert Wilson, Kimberose, Fabrice Moreau, Thibaut Garcia). At the heart of a hushed atmosphere, recorded under live conditions, this repertoire blends great American standards and essential monuments of French song. Duos, trios, quartets or quintets... along the way of friendships and musical encounters, the two musicians have traced an intimate itinerary, between joyful and nostalgic emotions.The latest album by French clarinetist Pierre Génisson includes a relaxed mix of material drawn from the American and French popular repertoires. He is accompanied by pianist Bruno Fontaine, as well as several other special guests, including Monica Bellucci, Lambert Wilson, Thibaut Garcia and Youn Sun Nah.With their melancholic authenticity, these songs have already won many hearts. It is not without reason that the legendary filmmaker François Truffaut said in one of his films: "I only listen to songs because they tell the truth..." This kind of character now also appeals to the versatile French clarinetist Pierre Génisson. He has expanded his multifaceted repertoire, ranging from classical to jazz through folk music, to include this nostalgic genre with the album 'Songbook'.The selected songs were arranged by Génisson's longtime collaborator, pianist and composer Bruno Fontaine. Together, they have created a new sound universe based on well-known American standards and French song classics.The two musicians benefited from the support of top-tier surprise guests to perform their individual songs. Actress Monica Bellucci lends her sensual voice to Cole Porter's popular love song "I've Got You Under My Skin". Guitarist Thibaut Garcia performs the theme from Charlie Chaplin's film "Smile", taken from the 1936 cinema classic Modern Times. Jazz singer Youn Sun Nah in turn performs Serge Gainsbourg's lascivious and relaxed song "La Javanaise".
