The Intercontemporain ensemble and its new musical director Pierre Bleuse pay tribute to György Ligeti, whose centenary was celebrated in 2023: "Ligeti is one of the greatest composers of the 20th century and certainly one of my first personal aesthetic shocks!... This recording, which combines concertos and chamber music, highlights the soloist and chamber musician qualities of the EIC. And I must not forget that Ligeti is an integral part of the Ensemble's repertoire, which has performed his works extensively... So this is an ideal way to open my own story with the EIC," says Pierre Bleuse, who brings his own vision to these works and wants to approach each score as "a virgin forest"... Notably, there is a new cadenza composed by Philippe Maunoury for the Violin Concerto, featuring Hae-Sun Kang as soloist. Also included are Renaud Déjardin (cello) and Dimitri Vassilakis (piano) in the other concertos of this tribute.
