Ballades

Description

Since his success at the Van Cliburn Competition, Philippe Bianconi has pursued an international career and continued his musical journey, patiently carving out his own path far from any media hype. The release of his recording of Debussy’s Préludes on La Dolce Volta was one of the major recording events of 2012, earning a shower of international awards and a nomination at the Victoires de la Musique in the “Recording of the Year” category. For his first Chopin album, Philippe Bianconi had to record the 4 Ballades that have accompanied him since the beginning of his concert career. He chose instead to explore, in their wake, the later Chopin with the 4th Scherzo and the Barcarolle, as well as the Prelude op. 45, which proves to be of incredible modernity. His immersion in Debussy’s world has shaped his approach to Chopin, whose modernity is revealed in the light of later works.
