Mishima A Life In Four Chapters

Description

This new recording by Maki Namekawa is the first complete version of the score from the 1985 film, transcribed for solo piano by Philip Glass's artistic director, Michael Riesman. Namekawa's career took off in 2014 when she was chosen by Philip Glass to perform the complete set of his Piano Etudes (OMM0098). Seeking a new project, Namekawa turned to the film music dedicated to the Japanese writer Yukio Mishima, the greatest Japanese author of the second half of the 20th century, who died by seppuku on November 25, 1970.
