Music with Changing Parts - Performing by Dedalus Ensemble

Description

Philip Glass’s *Music with Changing Parts* (1970), a foundational work of minimalist music, performed by the Dedalus Ensemble. Philip Glass (born 1937 in Baltimore) is considered one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century. Along with La Monte Young, Terry Riley, and Steve Reich, he is one of the pioneers and most prominent representatives of minimalist music, particularly the repetitive school. Founded in 1996 by Didier Aschour, Dedalus is a contemporary music ensemble based in Toulouse and associated with the GMEA – Centre National de Création Musicale d'Albi-Tarn. A champion of experimental contemporary music scores with flexible instrumentation, Dedalus operates as a collective where arrangements, orchestrations, and interpretations are developed collaboratively. Its repertoire includes works by minimalist classics (Christian Wolff, Moondog, or Philip Glass) and independent composers (Peter Ablinger, Jo Kondo, Luc Ferrari). The ensemble performs in Europe and the United States: Roulette (NYC), Café Oto (London), Sonorités (Montpellier), Musique Action (Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy), Angelica (Bologna), Elektricity (Reims), Philharmonie de Paris, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival.
