Respighi : Ballade des gnomes, Triptyque botticellien
Description
Ottorino Respighi (1879-1936) : Ballade des gnomes (Ballata delle gnomidi), , Triptyque botticellien (Trittico botticelliano), Suite in G Major for strings and organ, Adagio with Variations for cello and orchestra When in 1913, Respighi settled in Rome where he would reside until the end of his life, he produced a large quantity of very varied music, some of which are now well known and others less so. Geoffrey Simon therefore recorded the lesser-known works of famous composers, which proved to be very fruitful both on disc and in concert halls, and his exploration of Respighi's catalog has led to the discovery of a number of colorful compositions whose neglect until now remains somewhat mysterious. The works recorded for this Cala Signum reissue cover a wide range of atmospheres, from the opulence and excitement for which Respighi was known in his famous Roman Trilogy, to more reflective pieces inspired by nostalgia for the music of the past.
