Phil Ranelin, the renowned trombonist and co-founder of Detroit’s iconic TRIBE Records label, is making a comeback with his first new album in ten years. An undisputed master of the trombone in the lineage of J.J. Johnson, Ranelin has led a career spanning more than fifty years, marked by ten solo albums, four albums as a sideman for Freddie Hubbard, recording sessions for Motown, and collaborations with artists as diverse as Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Telefon Tel Aviv. At 82 years old, with "Infinite Expressions," Ranelin proves he still has much to offer, an album that highlights his unique style as both an instrumentalist and a composer.
