Phantastic Ferniture, the delightfully offbeat project of Julia Jacklin, Elizabeth Hughes, and Ryan K Brenna, is releasing its self-titled debut album. The spiritual home of Phantastic Ferniture may be the garage, but the band was born in a bar, specifically in the sacred basement of Frankie’s Pizza in Sydney. One night in 2014, for Jacklin's birthday, a collective hug formed amidst the pinball machines, during which the ten participants vowed to form a band. "Only four of us remembered it the next day," notes Hughes. United by their love of puns and casual clothing, the group would get together whenever their schedules allowed to write songs and play a handful of concerts for an ever-growing audience. Eventually, they declared that it was no longer a "side project" and that an album needed to be made.
