Ensemble has been a staunch advocate for the avant-garde since its inception at the Center of the Creative and Performing Arts at the University of New York in Buffalo, from 1970 to the present day. The well-known recordings of the S.E.M. Ensemble (Julius Eastman: Femenine, The Entire Musical Work of Marcel Duchamp, Morton Feldman: For Philip Guston) are easy to find. This is not the case for Petr Kotik's own music.
