Description

François Devienne (1759-1803), sometimes referred to as the "French Mozart," was renowned for his talent as both a flutist and a bassoonist. As an educator, he was among the first professors at the Conservatoire de Paris, established in the early years of the Republic. He dedicated a large number of his compositions to the two instruments in which he was a virtuoso, and this in various forms. Here, trios are gathered, compositions that alternately combine the violin and cello with the two wind instruments.
