On his 16th solo album, Doctor Moan, the three-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Peter Case channels the spirits of jazz, blues, and boogie-woogie into expressions of exquisite nuance. Released by Sunset Blvd Records, Case's first piano album is sonically stripped down yet emotionally rich, capturing the peak of his songwriting and voice with a rare organic authenticity in the digital age. "I try to take what I love and use it in a new way," reflects Case. "I grew up with the rock & roll and folk of the 1950s and 1960s. I learned to play the blues here in San Francisco, on the street, and then I was part of the punk rock movement... It's all still in there; it's my musical DNA. I hope it will open people's hearts and allow them to feel emotions they would like to feel but don't usually," he concludes. "And many of them are focused on survival in this world right now, so I hope for the warmth of companionship and comfort as well."
