Perseus is a power metal band formed in 2011 in Brindisi (Apulia, southern Italy) from the ashes of two local bands: "Hastings" (prog-metal, opening acts for Athena and Eldritch) and "Defenders of the Faith" (a tribute band to Judas Priest). Within a genre that has already been well explored, Perseus has carved out its own space, drawing inspiration from the old school of metal with bands like Judas Priest, Manowar, and Queensryche, while also embracing influences from more "avant-garde" bands such as Kamelot and the Italians Rhapsody Of Fire and Labyrinth. The Italian melodic tradition of bel canto and beautiful melodies blends with powerful riffs. The most intimate moments of the songs are highlighted with acoustic guitars and keyboards. Passion, suffering, joy, love, damnation, redemption, etc., are the predominant themes expressed in the lyrics. In 2011, after two self-produced demos, "Ashes to Ashes" and "Icarus Creed," Perseus signed its first contract with Nadìr Music, led by Tommy Talamanca, Trevor (both members of Sadist), and the label's manager Federico Gasperi. In October 2013, Perseus recorded its first album titled "The Mystic Hands of Fate" (for Nadìr Music), produced by Tommy Talamanca, who also recorded keyboards for the band. The first album gave the band the opportunity to open for groups such as Vision Divine, Queensryche, and Hollow Haze. On April 1, 2016, Perseus released its second album, "A Tale Whispered In The Night" (for Buil2Kill Records), which was presented in Rome, with Fabio Lione as a guest star who performed live on stage with the band for the occasion. In September 2016, Perseus went on tour with DragonhammeR to support the Swedish metal band Civil War on their European tour. In February 2018, Perseus participated in a 4-day concert as headliners in Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia, receiving warm appreciation from the audience and establishing a new fan base in those regions as well. In 2024, the band signed with the English label "Escape Music Ltd." and released its 3rd album "Into the Silence."
