The Tubicinatores gedanenses (trumpets of Gdansk) and their “associated string players” (Arcus adiuncti) take us straight into the intellectual heart of the Viennese imperial court with a program that beautifully portrays the grandeur that characterized the Danube metropolis 300 years ago. A truly gigantic ensemble, for which no fewer than six court composers wrote music, alongside the successive majesties Joseph I and Charles VI, who themselves engaged creatively in the field of music and produced remarkable works: it was a scene that sent the world not only artistic signals, but also unmistakable political ones.
