He is best known as the creator of timeless hits for Ray Ventura and his Collégiens (Tout va très bien Madame la Marquise…), but it should not be forgotten that Paul Misraki was also one of the most prolific composers for film in the 20th century. From Luis Buñuel to Jean-Luc Godard, including Claude Chabrol, Jean-Pierre Melville, and Patrice Leconte, he dabbled in all cinematic styles. His sense of melody and the elegance of his arrangements marked an entire era, one that highlighted stars like Brigitte Bardot (Et Dieu créa… la Femme) and Jean Gabin (Chiens perdus sans collier), as well as now-cult swashbuckler films (Les Trois Mousquetaires).
