The American guitar virtuoso, better known for his masterful playing with hard rockers Mr. Big and the pioneers Racer X - as well as numerous solo albums - was in his car when he saw something that made his heart race in a moment of pure joy. It wasn't an object of interest or great value or even particularly rare, just a baseball cap with the word "Dio" engraved on the front. Sometimes, even for the greatest guitar legends, it's the little things that hit you the hardest.
On the way back, a plan was being devised. Why not capture all the raw energy and excitement on an album dedicated to the most famous songs of Ronnie James Dio - covering his entire career from Rainbow to Black Sabbath and the singer's solo albums? Thus, the result is a unique album featuring the reproduction of well-established and world-renowned vocal melodies on his faithful six-string. Gilbert truly felt like he was in new territory.
