A magical trio for the melancholy poetry of Max Bruch and Mozartian light! If Mozart was the first to compose, with the 'Kegelstatt' Trio, for clarinet, viola and piano — an unusual combination at the time, conceived for his friend Stadler, Franziska von Jacquin, his most dedicated student, and himself — he would soon inspire followers: Schumann, Reinecke, Hurlstone... or even Max Bruch, who composed his 'Eight Pieces' in 1910 for his son. In a kaleidoscopic spirit, he summons in turn rhapsody, Romanian music, Brahms, and even Mendelssohn, infusing his miniatures with intense and passionate lyricism. Patrick Messina, Lise Berthaud and Fabrizio Chiovetta bring these two works together in this recording, a kind of intimate diary, served by their undeniable complicity and remarkable expressive precision.
