Inspired by the Song of Songs from the Old Testament, Chapter Eight by Alexander Knaifel is a "communal prayer" designed to be performed "in the most reverberant acoustics of the church." In this work not devoid of mystery, cellist Patrick Demenga surrenders to the combined voices of three choirs, under the direction of Estonian conductor Andres Mustonen. The album, recorded at the Jesuitenkirche in Lucerne, takes advantage of the exceptional acoustics of this Baroque church.
