Born to a father who was a police commander and a mother who was a stay-at-home artist, Patricia Lavila left Algeria for Lyon. She attended the Maria-Casarès school in Rillieux-la-Pape in the Rhône. Wanting to please both her father and mother, she took classical dance lessons. She graduated with a score of 12. She gave up her skydiving classes to focus on music. Gifted in singing, she participated in local competitions. But the Rhône-Alpes region was too small for her. At 16, fate smiled upon her thanks to Gilles Jérôme. She moved to Paris where she found success. There, she signed with Barclay. In the 1970s, Lavila sang Une petite place dans ton cœur, L'amour est toujours en vacances, Pour toi c'est rien, pour moi c'est tout... She recorded a song paying tribute to Jacques Brel before his death, titled Je n'ai jamais vu Jacques Brel chanter. In 1977, Patricia Lavila participated in the French pre-selection Le Grand Concours de la chanson française 1977 for the Eurovision Song Contest 1977 with the song Vis ta vie. The complete collection of her recordings from 1973 to 1979…46 tracks including 2 unreleased ones! Only one studio album during this period but more than 11 charted singles. Unreleased: "La Moitié De La France" and "Tu Connais."
