You can see this album solely as a diatribe on the climate crisis and the defense of the wild. Or you can see this album as a way to reconcile with the process of aging... Or, like me, you can see it allergically about both. I wrote this album between 37 and 40 years old. It's strange to remember my parents at my age and think about how different it is... raising my own children... having my own career... my own priorities... my own struggles. They did too. By passing their milestones, we begin to humanize them... they cease to be the distant and untouchable monoliths that dominate us... and we begin to see their cracks... just as we begin to crack ourselves. Every time I go home, I have a beer or two on my old man's grave. His last milestone... One day, my boys might well have a beer at my place."
