Description

It's at the age of 15 that the singer Özlem Bulut was introduced to lyrical singing in Mersin in her hometown and then in Istanbul. Thanks to a scholarship, she went to Vienna and performed at the prestigious Vienna State Opera as well as at the Vienna Volksoper, where she later became a permanent singer. It was in 2008 that she decided to found her group "Özlem Bulut Band" alongside Marco Annau (pianist and composer), which develops - in quartet or quintet - a musical universe where jazz, lyrical singing, and oriental rhythms collide with subtlety. Özlem Bulut is surely the artist who best represents modern oriental jazz. Her second album "A k" (Love) is sprinkled with beautiful lyrical flights mixed with oriental rhythms enriched with jazzy improvisations, all carried by the virtuosity and power of Özlem's voice. Based on the blending of genres, this project aims to break the conventional image of oriental music and to promote the beauty of the Turkish language by opening it up to new musical and cultural influences.
