Overkill has lost none of its rage and its formula is more effective than ever. 'Scorched' indeed seems even more accomplished than its predecessors, but also more refined and enhanced by extra touches that go beyond the framework of Thrash Metal. It was Colin Richardson and his assistant engineer Chris Clancy who handled the production. The final result is a return to the influences of the 80s with a modern punch. Setting the stage on fire, the rough and raucous Overkill has reappeared to batter your ears with its twentieth, that’s right!, its twentieth studio album: 'Scorched'. For more than three and a half decades, their unbridled thrash metal has produced some of the most iconic moments in the metal world. Now, in the second half of their career, all that experience shows on 'Scorched' as it somehow sounds more mature, refined and sprinkled with extra notes beyond thrash metal. "It’s not aggression for aggression’s sake," explains singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth, "there are a lot of different elements on the record. To me, it’s more heavy metal, and less a straight-up thrash record. There’s a lot of melody on it." Overkill broadens its scope, but make no mistake, the band will remain the dirty, massive gutter thrashers we all know and love. "We are what we are and we’ve known what we are for a long time. Being able to remain identifiable while doing something different at this stage of our career is really exciting for the band," Blitz concludes.
