The result, difficult to detect at first listen, reveals itself to be increasingly delightful as one digs into this double opus.
The members of the late Society of Soul lend a hand to Big Boi for his "Speakerboxxx." Where electronica and organs (Guettomusick) get along well. Where (again) Luther Vandross and Lady Di turn out to be good subjects (The Rooster).
For Dre 3000, the most interesting is yet to come. In the musical object (no other name to give to "The Love Below") that he proposes, the rapper changes hats. With Norah Jones or Kelis, Dre sings, whispers, and captures tones of an abyssal freshness. Accompanied by some free jazz arrangements, this facet of Outkast, which looks towards the work of Nerd with "In Search of," exceeds expectations. Vital for those who love experiences.
