In 2015, on the Lakoustic set, a Caledonian TV show hosted by Janice, Ounine Paowap met another singer from the country, Marcus Gad. Their collaboration on the track "Cotton Fields" would achieve enormous success in Kanak country. Since then, the two artists have continuously performed together, and it was alongside him that Ounine traveled to France to present his music for the first time, accompanying him on his European tour in 2019. A journey that would bear fruit as Ounine returned to the mainland in 2023 to record his first solo album alongside Tribe, Marcus Gad's band, who is also the album's producer. At a time when Kanaky New Caledonia is writing a new painful chapter in its history, Ounine will be present as the opening act for the entire Autumn tour of Marcus Gad & Tribe, including a stop at the Cabaret Sauvage in Paris on October 18th.
