Description

Passengers is a successful 2016 science fiction adventure film directed by Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game) and written by Jon Spaihts. It stars Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt, Michael Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, and Andy García, among others. The story revolves around a malfunction in a sleep capsule aboard a spaceship traveling to a distant colony planet, causing one passenger to wake up 90 years too early. The film was nominated for two Oscars at the 89th Academy Awards, including Best Original Score and Best Production Design. The music is produced by Thomas Newman, a multiple Grammy and Golden Globe winner (American Beauty, Shawshank Redemption, 1917, Skyfall). Newman primarily used the piano and electronic instrumentation for the 96-minute score but occasionally expanded to a full orchestra, featuring over 60 string musicians and 13 brass players.
