Description

Black Swan is a 2010 American psychological thriller directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman, Vincent Cassel, Mila Kunis, and Winona Ryder. The plot revolves around a production of Tchaikovsky's ballet Swan Lake by a prestigious New York company. Generally described as a psychological thriller, Black Swan can also be interpreted as a metaphor for artistic perfection, with all the psychological and physical challenges one may encounter. The film's original score was composed by Clint Mansell, an English musician, composer, and former lead singer of the band Pop Will Eat Itself. Mansell discovered film scoring when director Darren Aronofsky hired him to compose the music for his first film, Pi. Since then, Mansell has written music for many of Aronofsky's films. Notable additional film scores include The Fountain, Moon, Smokin' Aces, Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, Doom, and High-Rise.
