Prophetic Perfect Tense is the new album by Oren Ambarchi, released by Kou Records. An Australian guitarist and composer, he is one of the most inventive and tireless figures in experimental music over the past three decades. Founder of Black Truffle Records and an accomplished collaborator who has worked with Keiji Haino, Jim O'Rourke, Johan Berthling, and Andreas Werliin, Ambarchi presents himself here in his most stripped-down configuration: solo guitar, two sides, two takes, a minimum of effects. While his studio albums have generally been conceptual works rich in layers, featuring guest collaborators, Prophetic Perfect Tense completely breaks with this pattern; according to him, it is the most conventional-sounding solo guitar album he has ever made, and the one that comes closest, in a studio context, to the live and immersive energy of his trio Ghosted.
