One of Kinshasa (DRC)'s most exciting groups! The legendary Kasai Allstars collective brings together 15 musicians from several orchestras. All of them are from Kasai (a province the size of France), but from five different ethnic groups whose relations have been conflictual in the past. Their musical traditions were considered incompatible until these artists decided to join forces and collaborate. They blend traditional instruments, electrified thumb pianos, electric guitars, and basses, with a rich variety of textures, polyrhythms, and mesmerizing dances. Deeply enthusiastic about the music of the Congolese band Kasai Allstars, Franco-Senegalese director Alain Gomis drew inspiration from their music and the life of their singer Muambuyi to write and direct his new feature film, titled "Félicité." The band wrote most of the soundtrack and appears on screen. Presented in February at the Berlin International Film Festival, Félicité will be released in France on March 29. The album "Around Félicité" includes the film's standout tracks, those by Kasai Allstars and the Kinshasa Symphony Orchestra, as well as new tracks by Kasai Allstars.
