Les p'tites Michu Inclus un livret

Description

Two little girls, one of high birth and the other of more modest origins, mixed in their bath and raised as twins, with an imminent marriage proposal; first romantic feelings and some intrigues... It is on this amusing canvas signed by Albert Vanloo and Georges Duval that André Messager composes a score that is both graceful and lively. The melodies, simple and elegant, immediately charm with their harmonization and instrumentation, which give them all their appeal. The premiere of Les P’tites Michu at the Bouffes-Parisiens on November 16, 1897, is an immediate success. The cast features two immense stars of the Parisian stage in the title roles, Alice Bonheur (Marie-Blanche) and Odette Dulac (Blanche-Marie). Each piece of the work quickly becomes a "hit," particularly the duet between Blanche-Marie and Marie-Blanche. After more than 150 performances in the capital, the work travels to the provinces and then abroad (under the titles The Little Michus or Die kleinen Michu), concluding its run 20 years later on Broadway.
