Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992): Imágenes 676, Tristezas de un Doble A, Milonga Loca, Invierno Porteño, Muerte del Ángel, Tango Seis, Milonga del Ángel, La Mufa, Melodía en la menor, Adiós Nonino “Piazzolla Intime” is an intimate and profound musical encounter featuring pieces that explore recurring personal themes in the composer’s creative work: the tango to which he dedicated his life, the city of Buenos Aires, and his family. These themes unfold throughout the works, animated by a vibrant passion that shines through the notes and rhythms. William Sabatier has been performing for 30 years alongside the Orchestre national Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Together they have played numerous works by Piazzolla, both in Clermont-Ferrand and in the region, including the triumphant performances of María de Buenos Aires at the Nuits de Fourvière in Lyon in 2021. This album is the culmination of this deep and exciting artistic relationship. William Sabatier was particularly involved in this recording: researching the repertoire, creating arrangements for bandoneon and string orchestra while placing excellence at the heart of the project to best serve the wonderful music of Astor Piazzolla. With “Piazzolla intime,” the Orchestre national Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes also demonstrates its great artistic flexibility, with an adaptability to all repertoires and musical styles.
