Throughout his career, Oriol Riverola (better known in the electronic music world as John Talabot) has drawn inspiration from the spark, both creative and social, that life on the road provided him: giving concerts, spending time in the studio, and living to the rhythm of a professional musician. When the world came to a halt in 2020, that spark was abruptly extinguished. At the time, when no one knew if and how things would return to normal, producing dance music felt strange, almost futile. While much of the music scene turned towards a blurry and introspective form of ambient, Riverola sought to explore what the most euphoric version of ambient music could look like. Music for Empty Stadiums offers an answer to that question. With its 17 tracks and a duration of nearly 95 minutes, it is undoubtedly the most ambitious and personal work of Riverola's career. This is not the new album by John Talabot. Rather, it is a new album by John Talabot.
