The eighth full-length album 'Ghost Reveries' by the Swedish heavy metal band Opeth is the very embodiment of what metal should be: a work of art. The album is filled with heavy, complex, and precisely executed guitar riffs. You cannot avoid the monstrous riffs in a song like "The Grand Conjuration". As the band's main composer, Mikael Åkerfeldt has succeeded in transferring his dark emotions into all those twisted solos, then surrounded by an even thicker wall of riffs. He blends pure classical harmonies with guttural growls. Opeth's technical ability sets them apart from their followers and peers. 'Ghost Reveries' is therefore one of the greatest metal albums ever recorded. This album is the culmination of everything Opeth has accomplished throughout its career. It is completely realized, incredibly beautiful, and emotionally fragmented. The highly successful Swedish metal band Opeth rose to prominence in the early 2000s, after releasing some of the fans' favorite tracks. Their first world tour following the 2001 release of 'Blackwater Park' marked the beginning of big album sales and beautiful artistic songs.
