His first name is that of a sacred mountain. Yet, despite being passionate about mythology, Olympe is far from considering himself the cradle of the Greek Gods. If Joffrey Boulanger (his real name) chose the pseudonym of the goddess of hunting and the moon, it was thanks to a dream. In this premonition, the one for whom singing has always been the expression of his pain sees himself alone on stage, behind a piano, facing an audience chanting his name... Olympe. How could he have thought for a single second that he, the shy, reserved, and withdrawn child, raised since the age of 5 by his grandfather after his parents' separation, would one day participate in a widely watched show? Performing and being on stage is not new to him. He has been doing it since he was 11, thanks to his ancestor. After hearing him vocalize at the top of his lungs, the patriarch was able to detect his grandson's vocal predispositions, who then imagined himself as a lifeguard, doctor, florist, and even journalist. Strangely, not a singer. At least, not yet... So it was he who signed him up for his first competition. This dream was likely just a sign that would lead the Amiens native to create a YouTube channel. Under the name Olympe, he covers French and international songs. A good idea, as the program in question spots him. At 23, with his cover of "Born to Die" by Lana Del Rey, Olympe becomes in 2013 the pop artist with the angelic voice of the second season of "The Voice." His coach Jenifer will take him to the finals, but his vocal sensitivity will bow to the blue and gospel vibrations of Yoann Fréget. No matter. The "most beautiful voice" competition opened the door for the self-taught artist; the door to recognition. The artistic sensitivity of the young talent now has an audience. He releases a single "C'est facile." The success is there. Results? An eponymous album of covers ranks as best-seller for 19 weeks and, above all, a gold record. This is followed by the recording of an electro-pop album "Une vie par jour" in New York, a tour across France, collaborations on the albums "We love Disney" 1 and 2, appearances in an episode of "Nos chers voisins" in prime time on TF1 and in the show "Les people passent le bac" on NRJ 12, as well as a performance at the NRJ Awards and the release in 2017 of a piano-voice EP with the first single "Si demain." Years of intense work, during which Olympe no longer had control. So, no more formatting. For him, a break is necessary! He steps back from the media spotlight; a restorative 4-year break that will allow the songwriter to find himself, to be more in tune with himself to assert himself. Goodbye shyness, complexes, and awkward shapes. Olympe embraces who he is. Olympe reveals himself. Olympe dares! "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger." Nietzsche was right. In this 2021 back-to-school season, Olympe is back! We find him more fulfilled, more free. His fears have faded away. Here he is again with a project that resembles him and for which he has chosen the artistic direction. It is with enthusiasm, pride, and excitement that the singer presents "Fort," the first single from a new album scheduled for early 2022. His only concern after 4 years of absence? "Not having my place anymore, that people no longer want to listen to my songs." Not at all. His audience, with whom he is close, has waited to discover the music that drives him and for which he is made. Moreover, to find him grown from his past experiences. Olympe feels stronger today. Hence the title of his single. "My recent artistic encounters have allowed me to feel comfortable and reassured in my work." This is how inspiration came to him during a period when he questioned himself a lot and when his future seemed uncertain. Not being at home, he records on his phone the melody he has in his head. Nothing complicated in itself, but harmonious enough, with lyrics without vocal artifice, for the title to resonate with everyone. Wanting to break everything, Olympe begins to "dream of another life amidst the carnage. Waiting day and night to find the courage." And it happened. He "inhaled too hard." Even if he "doesn't recover from it, he felt strong counting to three." So, "1, 2, 3 the past has passed." "Simply delivering what I feel, playing with words and piano chords." But not just that. With strings too! Thanks to the artist Woodkid who inspires him. Olympe particularly appreciates his very orchestrated and cinematic universe, hence the importance of instrumentals in his album and thus, the presence of strings. For this introductory title, a music video was needed. Olympe shot it on a beach at the first rays of dawn. The ambient calm of the place gives a lunar aspect, where surrounded by purity and sensuality, like an archangel, he moves on the sand dunes. What about the album in all this? Its very positive pop musical color is orchestrated as desired. Its melodies, mid-tempo ballads, and lyrics are very well crafted. "I want people to have emotions when they listen to it." And for that, the singer did not hesitate to address personal themes, such as the cyberbullying he was a victim of. For the magic to happen, a dream team was needed. Olympe surrounded himself with Jérôme Brulant with whom he wrote and composed, Théo Grasset for arrangements, and Christelle Henen (who accompanied William Sheller on his last tour) for strings. "We are all in tune. No ego issues between us. Our relationship is healthy and aims only to build something together and show who the real Olympe is." To be even more artistically free, the artist left his record label to create his own. With Talentcy Records, he can write and compose as he pleases. He is his own conductor; the goal being to produce other artists and developing talents in the near future.
