Description

Following the enormous success of the concept album Carnet de routes released in 1995, which became one of the biggest hits in French jazz, even European jazz, with over 70,000 copies sold, the trio Romano-Sclavis-Texier, accompanied by photographer Guy Le Querrec, decided to hit the African roads again from September to October 1997, this time in East Africa and South Africa to complete their tour of the continent. Upon their return, they composed fifteen tracks inspired by their journey. The album was recorded and mixed in 1999 at the Gil-Evans studio of the Maison de la culture d'Amiens under the technical direction of Philippe Tessier du Cros; the mastering was done by Jean-Pierre Bouquet. The record was released on August 15, 1999, on the Label Bleu. Once again, the album is accompanied by a booklet of photos taken by Guy Le Querrec during the new trip. The album also met with similar success to the album Carnet de routes, prompting the trio to reform for a third time to release a final album titled African Flashback (2005), from which a stimulating energy emerges in most of the tracks.
