A student of Einar Englund and Einojuhani Rautavaara, Kjell Flem, born in Ålesund in 1943, has long been considered a rising star on the contemporary Scandinavian music scene. His musical language, of great simplicity and spontaneous atmosphere, creates an ambiance deeply rooted in the natural landscapes of his native region. His work, relatively limited, allows for long periods of creation because, in his own words, truly magical moments of inspiration are rare. Markus L. Frank conducts the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. The soloists are Oliver Triendl on piano and Benedict Kloeckner on cello. The latter has performed with numerous renowned orchestras in Europe, the United States, and Korea, and enjoys great success as a soloist and chamber musician.
