Nubiyan Twist, the collective of about ten musicians based in Leeds and London led by producer and guitarist Tom Excell, is back with their highly anticipated new album Freedom Fables on Strut Records.
Woven around introspection and uplifting tales of modern life, this new album is the most accomplished to date from the collective, effortlessly merging different styles of soul, jazz with great musicality: touches of breakbeat, blunt hip hop, highlife, Latin jazz, and British soul. The album is also packed with illustrious guests: the group's regular collaborator Cherise, British saxophonist Soweto Kinch, Ghanaian Pat Thomas, new talent Ria Moran…
Freedom Fables is set to propel Nubiyan Twist even further to the heights and solidify the group's position as one of the leading soul-jazz collectives in the UK of the current generation. The album was produced by Tom Excell at Henwood Studios in Oxfordshire and mixed by Oli Barton Wood and Tom Excell at Premises. The album artwork is by Emma Rodriguez aka Mooncrab.
