Trialogue : chant medieval europeen, indien et islamique

Description

Chant medieval European, Indian and Islamic. Dominique Vellard, at the head of the Ensemble Gilles Binchois, has been researching for several years intellectual, spiritual and musical connections with non-Western traditions, links that allow him to achieve a better understanding and grasp of medieval European chant, of which he has been one of the great specialists for over thirty years. His approach involves unions that allow for juxtaposition and highlight the qualities of these musics, without any gratuitous fusion. Vellard's meeting with the legendary Indian singer Aruna Sairam in the mid-1990s led to the establishment of keys resulting in a rich musical and human dialogue, which brought them to give more than thirty concerts in Europe, India, Morocco and Malaysia and to record an album with EMI in 1999. In 2002, this collaboration received the contribution of Moroccan singer Noureddine Tahiri, thus incorporating the Islamic tradition into an adventure that today culminates in this new Glossa recording, titled Trialogue. A collaboration of intense emotion, with music of sublime beauty, for an album that will delight fans of world music as well as enthusiasts of classical music with the most open spirit! Recorded at the Mont Saint-Jean church, June 2011.
