Description

Composed in 1982, Passio by Arvo Pärt is one of the major sacred works of the 20th century. It has been regarded as a minimalist masterpiece and was a pioneering work in the composer’s output – the culmination of his style called tintinnabuli and the first in a series of large-scale sacred choral works. In his Passion, Pärt draws on the medieval tradition – the text is sung by a single voice. Thus, the narration becomes the foundation for a long spiritual contemplation.
