A legendary artist in a legendary venue: Tripping with Nils Frahm captures one of the world’s most sought-after artists in one of Berlin’s most iconic buildings. When Nils Frahm launched his world tour at the Funkhaus Berlin in January 2018 to present his highly acclaimed studio album All Melody, an ambitious journey was just beginning: over the next two years, Frahm played more than 180 sold-out performances. Yet the breathtaking setting of the Funkhaus Berlin, renowned for its grandeur and exceptional acoustics, and which also houses Frahm’s beautiful studio where All Melody was recorded, held a unique place in the artist’s heart.In December 2018, Frahm’s friend and director Benoit Toulemonde — a collaborator since 2011 — filmed the concerts using only handheld cameras and employing techniques he had mastered for the famous La Blogothèque concert series, which featured some of the world’s most popular artists. Tripping with Nils Frahm is an illustration of Nils’s ability as a composer and passionate artist, as well as the enchanting atmosphere of his captivating and already legendary shows: an extraordinary musical journey — rare and exclusive, close and intimate, bringing a concert experience to the screen. The concert film of the same name is produced by Leiter in association with Plan B Entertainment and will premiere on the same day of its release via the online cinema platform MUBI.
