The Enescu Project

Description

The Enescu Project was born in a concert hall and was faithfully recorded to create this album. The program is dedicated to the music of the great Romanian composer and violinist George Enescu, as well as that of his contemporaries and friends, giving an idea of the context in which Enescu composed. Enescu studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Massenet and Fauré; he mingled and shared the stage with Bartók and Ravel; he was the dedicatee of a sonata by Ysaÿe; and Debussy attended the premiere of his First Symphony. The music of these composers brings us to the heart of this album - the very beautiful String Octet by Enescu, a work composed when he was only 19 years old and which deeply influenced the violinist Nicolas Dautricourt. The album booklet includes a QR code that allows listeners to access the spoken texts included in the original concert version of this fascinating project.
