And everything he has written since has only confirmed that initial wonder..." Thus spoke Olivier Messiaen about his former student, Nguyen Thien Dao. It is through this new opus titled 'Dat Troi' that the Vietnamese composer invites us to share his works. This monographic CD consists of pieces for various formations ranging from works for soloists, choir, and orchestra, to pieces for soloists and ensemble. The performers are part of the Orchestra of the Academy of Music of Vietnam, which recorded this disc under the direction of the composer himself. In this album, we discover 6 works that represent the composer’s recent output, blending, as he himself says, "his two Eastern and Western civilizations." He creates a synthesis by constructing music based on micro-intervals, color-timbres, a rhythmic structure, and a particular time-duration. These are completely new works that the composer offers us in this disc.
