Description

It's a new chapter in the history of Neva Dinova. Although the band is appreciated by many, it has never had the same notoriety as its peers and collaborators from Omaha like Bright Eyes and Cursive. However, this is likely to change with the band's invigorating new album, Canary, which features a new lineup, a new perspective, and a more urgent sound than anything they have created in the past.
From the fuzzed grandeur of "Edge of Something" that kicks off the album to the electronica/hip-hop accents of "I Can See Further Now," the album sees Neva Dinova stand out and condense their songs into powerful bursts of concentrated energy. As always, the unifying ingredient is Bellows' distinctive baritone voice as he sings about existential terror, alienation, and hypocrisy - though balanced by moments of lightness and hope.
