Description

Comprised of both standards from the Great American Songbook, original compositions by Nels Cline, and covers of artists like Sonic Youth, Arto Lindsay, or Jimmy Giuffre, the 18 tracks of the album highlight the eclectic tastes of its author. Lovers was recorded and mixed by Ron Saint Germain and produced by David Breskin. Nels Cline is part of the '100 greatest guitarists of all time' according to Rolling Stone. Over the years, he has formed various groups, including the avant-garde band The Nels Cline Singers. The guitarist has also participated in the recording of over 200 albums and has been a full-time member of the famous rock band Wilco for the past ten years. With Lovers, a double album he dreamed of recording for over twenty years, Nels Cline is set to make his debut on Blue Note. Inspired by artists such as Bill Evans, Jim Hall, Gil Evans, Johnny Mandel, Henry Mancini, and many others, the guitarist has finally managed to bring this project to fruition with the help of 23 exceptional musicians led by Michael Leonhart, who is also the album's arranger.
