Having spent his childhood in the mid-west of the United States, a region not particularly conducive to gangsta-rap fantasies, Nelly clearly aims to reflect in his flow and music the characteristics of his hometown, St. Louis. His second album, "Nellyville," while incorporating the clichés of gangsta-rap dear to Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, noticeable on Hot In Herre and Dilemma where Nelly takes on the role of the boastful pimp towards women, appears as an original condensed version of thoughtful lyrics to which a plurality of features is added (The Entertainer & La La, King Jacob, Kelly Rowland, and the late Justin Timberlake from N'Sync). Also, as the quality of this record suggests, whose only downside lies in its overly polished production, if Nelly is insightful enough about the future not to get caught up in low-quality commercial productions, then this man will undoubtedly become one of the leading figures in American hip-hop.
