Official Record of the Crazy Day 2014. Between the incandescent life and Buddhist zen, there is only a tiny step. Thus Jack Kerouac, in his endless quest for the infinite, takes us on the roads of America, from canyons to stars. An America between fantasies and truths, on the idea of a long road - the mythical "Route 66" - as a precise musical journey crossing the United States geographically and musically: "To the east of my youth, to the west of my future" (Kerouac). It is on these traces and on the search for the infinitely large in the infinitely small that this entire record was built. I was able to discover unprecedented landscapes: Amy Beach, a genius composer, or Percy Grainger who became American by vocation; the world premiere of Hyung-ki Joo who composed Chandeliers in New York after September 11; the hypnotic meditation of John Adams, John Cage, or Philip Glass; or the fascinating lineage between Bernstein, Copland, and Ginastera, his student in Bloomington and vector of South American influence; the intimate link between Gershwin and jazz, which inspired Bill Evans or Keith Jarrett. To conclude this journey, Natalie Dessay offers us her exceptional presence in a unique version of Cole Porter composed especially for this record by Raphaël Merlin of the Quatuor Ebène.
