This collection of 7 CDs or 10 LPs draws its richness from a good number of sources, including titles never before released and found in archives around the world such as "Trompin" (released in jukebox for Cinematone in 1939), "What'cha KnowJoe" (radio performance from 1940 and first known radio appearance of Nat) or "The Romany Room is Jumpin'" (private recording from 1941). In some sessions, we find Nat on piano within his brother's band at the age of 17! We also find the very first recordings of the King Cole Trio from 1938, his sessions for Standard, Davis & Schwegler or for MacGregor with Anita Boyer. Also present: the recordings stamped Decca (1940-41), Excelsior or Premier (1943), the recordings broadcast to the armed forces as well as his first jazz sessions with Lester Young and Dexter Gordon.
