The year 2021 will be marked by the tenth anniversary of her ensemble "Rhythms of Resistance" and the release of the precious double album "Un Autre Monde" recorded partly Live with the Orchestre National de Bretagne, as well as by the creation of the new quartet project "Rituels de Guérisons". Once again, Naïssam Jalal unveils a new, personal, and vibrant facet of her musical universe which, both in substance and form, gives full meaning to the word freedom. Writing a new repertoire for this quintet was not easy. I wanted to continue my journey without retracing my steps. My music is the expression of the multiple geographies that inhabit me; music rooted in extra-Western traditions and looking towards the unknown. In my two previous albums, I spoke of myself and the world in terms of how it affects me, upsets me, hurts me, or intoxicates me. A mad world, at once of extreme violence and great beauty. It is this world that inspires me and will continue to inspire me. Today, we all have the feeling that we are reaching the end of a cycle, the end of an era. Capitalism, which for two centuries has tended to generate ever more profit, infinitely, at the expense of our lives, is now endangering the survival of our species. The increasingly indecent gap that separates us from the holders of political and financial power exhausts us while it also disheartens us. Our individual freedoms and social rights are disappearing, and everywhere, revolts are erupting, opposing peoples to violent repression. Too often, our difficulties in living with dignity generate a fear in which fascist and xenophobic ideologies take root. We all feel that we need to imagine another world. I wanted to explore new territories in terms of meaning and sound material, and tirelessly continue to mix aesthetics and traditions to allow Un Autre Monde to flourish. This world we dream of, this world with open, permeable, and shifting borders, with multiple and chosen identities. This world where the other and the same would mingle in respect and curiosity, where the notion of tolerance would give way to that of friendship. This world where our relationship with the living would be based on balance and not on predation, in which our imagination would be freed from material "values." This other world in which we could live if wars, hatred, and money did not prevent us from shaping it in the clay of our dreams.
