Imana : Chants Araméens

Description

Myriam Denise Cannas is a young Italian singer aged 24. She began her career at 14 with variety songs that she sings or writes, such as La Bambolina, which charted in several European countries. Her search for spirituality leads her down other paths. She discovers other cultures, other languages, ancient dialects, and sets about writing this astonishing record: Imana, a burning album of intoxicating spiritual passion. Born in Italy in 1984, Myriam showed clear artistic gifts from childhood, mainly for singing. Very quickly drawn to spirituality, as soon as she turned 18 she made several journeys as part of her inner quest, taking her twice to India, to the United States, then to the Peruvian Andes; there she met spiritual masters from different traditions, deepened her knowledge of the Celtic tradition, and spent time in Assisi and La Verna, where St. Francis lived. Her spirituality is expressed in her art; Myriam’s deep desire is to sing sounds that have resonated in her heart since early childhood, melodies in which the presence of Jesus in Palestine shines through, a spiritual figure for whom she feels deep love. One of the 11 tracks, “Avun,” is the original Lord’s Prayer in Aramaic.
